Reaching for Happiness!

It can be a grim secular world at times. Just watch the nightly news, or CNN, Fox News. You get the idea. If it's not one thing, it's another.

Do we really need to wait for Brian Williams to tell us when it is ok to feel happy? If so, it could be a long wait.

Yet maybe it's all in the effort of the individual that can make a difference. In a blame someone else world, what if people could exercise an agenda of personal responsibility?

Today, I may try to make the reach. Beyond my own desires and dreams. An ultimate reach beyond myself. Isn't pure happiness a state of selflessness?

Reaching for Happiness is presently on display at ArtWorks until September 25th.

Somersault!

My latest painting was painted specifically for the ArtWorks/SPCA exhibit. Every piece of art submitted had to have a cat or dog theme. To no surprise, I choose the cat option.

Using my "Steve" style of bright, bold colors using an abstract graphical form, I choose to paint a cat doing a somersault. Though a pretty athletic move for a cat, the cat I painted completes the trick without ever losing her coolness. It is a painting of pure catness.

Somersault is presently on display at ArtWorks until September 25th.

Cat & Mouse

applegate Art's outreach program donated one of its original designer clocks to the ArtWorks/SPCA silent auction.

The silent auction took place on opening night at this month's ArtWorks show.

All sales go directly to the SPCA.
